  Hi, I set up my site to have a direct domain name, not a wordpress one, but it isn’t working, says it’s “under construction”

  The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  Hi there,

  It looks like your nameservers are not pointing to us yet as seen here:

  https://who.wildwestdomains.com/whoisstd.aspx?domain=raevyncarney.com&prog_id=wildwestdomains

  You’ll need to update the name servers with your domain registrar. This article explains how:

  http://en.support.wordpress.com/domain-mapping/map-existing-domain/

  The name servers for WordPress.com are:

  • NS1.WORDPRESS.COM
  • NS2.WORDPRESS.COM
  • NS3.WORDPRESS.COM

  If you’re not sure how to change them, please contact your registrar for assistance.

  Once you have updated the name servers, it may take up to 48 hours for the domain to be pointed to your WordPress.com site.

  Well great, I called Wild West and they said I’m not registered with them, but with MelbourneIT. I can’t call them because they’re in freaking Australia and I don’t have international calling on my phone, nor do I want to pay for it. I wish I’d known how hard this would be, I would have gone a different route.

  I finally found an 800 number and spent an hour on hold only to be disconnected. I’m incredibly frustrated with this whole thing. I was told WordPress was the easiest with the best support and so far that has not been my experience.

  BTW, I tried following the directions in that article, it said I’m already registered. Not helpful at all.

  Hi there,

  I’m sorry, but updating nameservers cannot be done by WordPress.com. We are not the registrars of your domain and we have absolutely no access to that. If you look at link I provided it stated there that your registrar was:

  http://www.melbourneit.com.au

  That is where you purchased the domain. We did not do that for you. In order to update your nameservers so that they can point to us you would need to do that via your registrar. If you are unhappy with your registrar’s support, I highly recommend transferring your domain to another registrar.

  I understand you are already registered which is why you just have to update the nameservers with your current registrar. Currently if you look at the link that I sent you, your nameservers are pointing to:

  Name Server: YNS1.YAHOO.COM
  Name Server: YNS2.YAHOO.COM

  They need to be pointed to us:

  • NS1.WORDPRESS.COM
  • NS2.WORDPRESS.COM
  • NS3.WORDPRESS.COM

  Again, we cannot do this for you because we are not your registrar. That is melbourneit.com.au and they are an entirely different company that we have no control over. I hope this helps.
