Hi, My site photos are suddenly all blurry?
-
Hello, I have had a free account for around 2 years and the quality of the pictures has been great up until now. I edit my photos using Affinity Photo and they have the right amount of sharpness applied and are exported in a resolution which always worked 700 x 900 approx. Now all my pictures are suddenly blurry and I have no idea why. I even tried changing the default size from large to full size, but that makes no real difference. The images are so sharp on my desktop they almost look unreal apart from when they are rendered in WordPress, then they are muddy looking. Please can you tell me why this is. If I were to upgrade, would this still be the case?if so then I am not confident to do so unfortunately. Thank you for your help, Cliff.

Hi there!
Are you referring to ideaspacecb.home.blog? I had a look at the images there, and I do not see the blurriness you mentioned. Could you share two screenshots of what you see on your end, on the blog, and when opening the image straight from the desktop?
You can use an online tool for that (such as https://snipboard.io/) and paste the link into your reply or upload them to your media library. -
Hello,
Thank you very much for your response. I am happy that you can see no real blurriness in the images of my latest post, Grey Marl Cardigan. But what concerns me is that I had to sharpen them to an extraordinary degree in order to make them look as they do now. At first they were quite bad. And I have used a much nigher pixel resolution than I have done with all the other pictures in previous posts. That is what makes me wonder if something has changed in the nature of my software or account settings. Actually now when I look back over my earlier posts, the quality of the images in them seems to have diminished to some degree.I hope I am not imagining things. I will try to find an example and use the tool you have kindly given me to upload it. Thanks again,

Hi there,
I’ve looked over the images in a few different posts, and for me they all look quite sharp. I did not detect any softness in the images. Possibly my eye is less critical than yours, but you can see what I see here:
You can also download my screenshot here, to view it at full resolution (in case the forum resizes the image I added) https://d.pr/i/JOJ0Gu+
I took my screenshot on this page: https://ideaspacecb.home.blog/2020/07/12/black-top-and-beret-scarf-set/
Is it the case that I am seeing something different than you see? Are you viewing your site on a mobile device like a tablet or smartphone? Or are you also viewing on a desktop computer, same as I did in my screenshot?
Can you also share a screenshot of what you see on your end? To share a screenshot of what you are seeing, you can use https://snipboard.io/
Simply upload your screenshot on that web page, and then copy the link (created after you upload your screenshot) and paste it into your reply here so we can see it. Thanks for the additional info!

Hi Jerrysarcastic,
Thank you so much for taking all this time to research and answer my query, I really appreciate that. I must admit, having looked at the screen shot you took and the image you have provided, I can see why you have doubt that I really did have an issue.
I guess when it comes to all my previous posts, maybe my eyes have played tricks on me a, but I cannot deny how much I had to sharpen all the images in my latest post in order to get them looking the way the do right now. I also had to change their resolution massively from 700 pixels to 1000 wide. This is why I believed that something might have changed with the site itself, I do apologise for making that assumption. I will just carry on with future posts in the hope that I can sort out where I might have gone wrong.Thank you once again all of you for looking into this for me.

Hey cliff, is there any chance you’ve switched to a retina display? That could account for some fuzziness that did not seem to be there before.
Also, is there any chance we could see an image that still looks fuzzy and bad to you? If you can link to the article and point that out, that’ll help.

Thank you Supernovia,
I am going to leave things as they are for now, barbecue I don’t have the time to overhaul everything.
Maybe the images were not as crisp as I thought they were at the start.
I haven’t enabled any kind of new display setting to my knowledge because I tend not to tinker with settings. Thanks very much for all your kind help and support.
Cliff
