hidden tag

I need a way to point certain posting to a Category.
I know I can do this with Tags, but that generates a listing in the tag cloud.
The only way I can figure out how to do it is to have a tag that doesn’t appear in the tag cloud.
Or maybe there is a better way

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    Hi!

I am unclear what you are asking. Do you want to tag posts but not make them visible? If you have WordPress premium you may be able to hide them using CSS. You could also remove your Tag Cloud from your widgets by deleting it.

New user here, so be patient with me
My understanding that if I have category “DOG” every post under “DOG’ will show up when I click category.
so my posts with tags “Husky”, “Beagle”, and “Lab” are assigned to “DOG” and will show up there.
My post about canines with tag “Wolf” will also show up under “DOG”

I need a category “LUPIS”. I want “Wolf” to show up there, but not “Lab”.
I can do a tab”lulu” that will put stuff in “LUPIS” but I do not want “lulu” in my tab cloud

    Hi,

My understanding that if I have category “DOG” every post under “DOG’ will show up when I click category.

Correct, so long as the post has been assigned DOG category.

so my posts with tags “Husky”, “Beagle”, and “Lab” are assigned to “DOG” and will show up there.

Incorrect. Tags and Categories are two different animals (so to speak… :-D)
    See here for the differences:

    Categories vs. Tags

My post about canines with tag “Wolf” will also show up under “DOG”

Posts about canines must be categorized (not tagged) to show-up as the DOG category.

I need a category “LUPIS”. I want “Wolf” to show up there, but not “Lab”.
I can do a tab”lulu” that will put stuff in “LUPIS” but I do not want “lulu” in my tab cloud

You will need assign the post under the LUPIS category.

    Now I am really confused.
all posts assigned to “DOG” go to the “DOG” category no matter what the tag assigned to them, and also if there is no tag assigned to them
Did I get that part correct, or incorrect?

    That part is correct.

Is there any way to get something to show up in multiple categories, other than in a parent/child category?

  • Unknown's avatar

You could create different categories and then assign the post to each of the different categories.

Yes. Just add multiple categories to it. My blog http://raincoaster.com has over 400 categories, and no sub categories or tags.
