hide blog when its name known to my family

easiest way to hide blog from my family when they already know its name, what if change name of blog? or change public to private?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

If they already know the URL then change it > If you want to change the blog address ie. the URL starting with http:// then you must be logged in as Admin under the exact same username account that registered the blog to do that and the URL you desire must be available. If so then you can change the URL by using this guide http://en.support.wordpress.com/changing-blog-address/
To change blog visibility to Private go to Dashboard > Settings > Reading scroll to Blog Visibility and choose option 3 .

and I am presuming you are saying that if I do change name, they wont easily be able to find it? changingh name might be better option then makeing it private because they wouldnt look up all blogs by borderlines….I just need to know which is easier to do for me so that my family cant easily find my blog.

I think you’re trying to achieve two objectives at once, which would be (a) have a blog that your folks can’t find it, and (b) have posts that some others cannot get to read it.
If you want your blog to be inaccessible to the outside world, then timethief above is correct – just change your blog to Private.
If you want some posts on your blog to be non-readable, then password-protect them.
My advice would be to simply have another blog, one that you don’t tell your folks about that you can post ‘sensitive’ material on. Meanwhile, your current blog would then be used for anything else that you don’t care being read by anyone.

Just a note to tell you that this is a public support forum and all threads here are almost instantly indexed by Google and Bing and are available to everyone with internet access. If your family are aware of your username and they search they can read this thread and any others you post. -

One thing that has not been clarified for me, if I were to make my blog private and invite new users, would this mean manually writing every single one of my existing followers and typing each name in? Or does it suggest who to invite?If the former, this puts me off as I have 80+ followers who I wish to keep but mammoth task writing each down and typing in each name?
