hide footer after blog entry in twentyten

  • Unknown's avatar

What footer below? This thread is about hiding the metadata at the bottom of the posts. Are you talking about that, or are you talking about the footer clear down at the very bottom of the page?

Removal of either would require the CSS upgrade.

    Footer as Below

Theme: Twenty Ten Blog at WordPress.com

I have just bought the CCS upgrade.

But not sure how to remove.

    Please help
    thanks

Well, since the site linked to your username is not a wordpress.COM blog, nor is it using 2010, and since you did not provide a link to the blog you were talking about, this is the standard way.

    #footer {display:none;}

Delete the informational text from the CSS edit window and add the above and make sure “add to existing…” is selected and preview and/or save and that should do it.

Do NOT paste the entire stylesheet into the CSS edit window. That will cause you problems. Put only the specific selectors, and the specific declarations you are changing or adding into the CSS edit window.

    Done!

I just paste the above to CSS Edit Box.

Thanks for your prompt help and guidance.

    Much Appreciated

@wandererz, and anyone else coming to this theme wanting to hide the footer from the very bottom of the pages where the wordpress.com and theme links are. Staff have verified that this is not allowed here at wordpress.COM.

@lance stated that if they find you have hidden the footer, they will contact you about it. I don’t know what would happen if you did not make it visible again. Staff might edit your CSS and put it back in, or they might suspend your blog. Just don’t know.

Is there any other staff comment on the forum about this? Surely having the CSS gives you the right to hide the footer? I know one should give attribution but apart from that forum comment I don’t know of anywhere saying it isn’t allowed. The only thing you cannot do is hide advertising and hide the TypeKit logo if you’re using their service.

@Luke, with typekit, I think they give you the option of hiding the logo in the configuration at typekit.

I have seen threads from way back, (2007/2008) where staff and moderators, have said it was not allowed, but a few things recently made me think maybe that policy had been relaxed.

I could speculate on why they might be able to block people from removing the footer credits (on GPL licensed themes), but it would be just that, speculation. And I would probably be wrong.
