Hide header image on Primary Menu pages
-
When I click on any item in my Primary Menu, it is not apparent that the page has opened as the content does not ‘jump’ up to where the user can see it. The user has to scroll down to see the page they’ve selected. The user may not know to do this, as websites usually present the page you’ve selected directly in front of you
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hello @fergusmoffat,
What you can do to resolve this is, reduce the height of the header image so that visitors does not have to scroll to view what the page is.You can also try to set a different header image for each static page(if it is possible for your theme) so that the visitor does not even have to scroll, he/she can make out what the page is by just looking at the header image.
Hope this helps 🙂

Thanks for your advice. I appreciate your time. But I just want my website to function as all others do. When I click on a page on the primary menu I want to see that page. I’ll look at coding if I have to.

Okay, then try this:
Edit your menu links, with the custom menus link ID’s to your page. For Example:
Add an About page custom link with id content. Like this:
https://boomerdownunder.com/about/#contentAdd a Contact page custom link with id content. Like this:
https://boomerdownunder.com/contact/#contentSame for all other pages. This will cause the page to auto-scroll to the actual content area when a user clicks on it’s link on the primary menu.
You can follow this guide to add custom menus with the content ID links provided above: https://en.support.wordpress.com/menus/
Let us know if it helps.

Thanks for your suggestion otpidusprime. Your code indeed works to create a page jump, but where the page lands is—apparently—unable to be set for sure. I contacted Support on Live Chat and was told this… “…where the page jump lands depends on the viewers computer, there isn’t much we can do to make it more exact I’m afraid.
Page jumps are a part of HTML, it would act this way if you were building a site from scratch, or building it with another site builder. Unfortunately, it is gonna be able to get you close but not necessarily exact, because screen sizes vary so much.”Their code, and yours got the page to jump but it left several lines (and the page title) above that had to be scrolled back to view. I’ve now decided it’s too hard and—unless I can understand the advice given to me regarding changing my THEME, I’ll live with it and place an instruction on my Home page. Thanks again.

You can change the theme to a suitable one if you are finding it too complex. However, placing an instruction on the Home Page is a nice idea too.
Thanks again.
You’re Welcome 🙂
