Hide older posts without making them un-searchable

I am looking for a way to try and hide the majority of my posts so that I can effectively ‘start afresh’ with my blog on my current wordpress domain.

Currently it seems like the only options are to make them private, but I want the content still to be available if someone searches for it – as my historical posts do still get hits occasionally.

I’ve been blogging since 2011 and the archive list is now quite long and I’d like to reduce it by effectively ‘hiding’ a lot of my old posts on the main site, as I want my new site to be professional rather than hobby-ist. Is there a way of doing this?

There are plugins available for .org sites that do this, but I’ve not been able to source a means to do this on .com. I don’t want all my content from the past 3 years to just be discarded, but equally don’t want it clogging up my content feed and archives.

If it’s not possible, is there at least a way to limit the archive widget drop down menu to show only the past few months content rather than every single month?

    Please help!
