  Preferrably I’d like to hide the site so I’m the only one who can view the site. If that’s not possible I’d like to keep the site but remove all content.

  You can make your site private:

  http://en.support.wordpress.com/settings/privacy-settings/

  Choose the “I would like my blog to be visible only to users I choose” and nobody will be able to see it except for you. In the future you can give other users permission to see the blog, or just do nothing and it will stay private only for yourself.
