hide or delete site?

got a new thing started up and just wanted to see if wordpress suits…have a play and test….cannot hide the site….so i’m thinking I’ll delete it…but then it says the wordpress domain will be not be able to be used again….is this forever? It puts me off coz it seems needlessly stressful….I just want an easy fix…help!

To make your site private so it’s no longer visible to anyone, go to My Sites > Settings > General (or My Sites > WP Admin > Settings > Reading) and tick the box next to “I would like my site to be private, visible only to myself and users I choose”. If you’d rather delete your site (which I see you’ve done with jackotherat.wordpress.com), go to Settings > General and click “Delete Site”. Note that this action will make the WordPress.com domain unavailable for at least two years. In other words don’t delete the site if you might want to reuse the name later. Yes, if you delete the site, it will be deleted forever. I encourage you to hide/set private. You’ll never know if you need it again one day.

thanks micawbr…that’s done….but I was confused from the outset as I had deleted ol’ Jacko a while back but when I went in and to create a new site my email resurrected the old site details…I wanted to start afresh with the same emai lbut no go.

Hi jack,
You can have 1 account (the one you’re using rite now) and own multiple site. If you no longer wanted the old name/site, just set it private as replied before, and hide it from your dashboard
