hide site from public while working on it?

There is no option to hide my site from the public under my site settings. It only give me public and hidden; both choices are visible to everyone except the hidden option doesn’t allow search engines to index the site. I don’t want anyone to be able to see the site but me right now. Please help!

If you’re asking about a self hosted site, you would need to try posting your question in the WordPress.org forum for assistance.
