Hide Site Title

Can I hide my site title? I don’t want it to appear in white as it does currently as I have embedded text on my featured image. I originally had left the Site Title blank but I figured that might mean the title of my blog wouldn’t be searchable?

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi there, Carla – it looks as though your site title is no longer part of your home page. Am I right?

If you still want to change the color of your site title, have a look at this thread:

    and this article:

Thanks! I’m not even sure I remember what I finally did to get rid of it! But, I’ll have to check out the thread you suggested for future reference. I’ve found I evidently have a steeper learning curve here than I thought!

lol, well, welcome to the journey! there are lots of resources and friendly people here to support you on whatever part of the “rabbit hole” you would like to explore! :)

Hi Cat, I don’t suppose you could help me with something else?

One of my sidebars has moved to below the other one and I don’t know why or how to move it back. [the posts are on the far left and then there were 2 columns of widgets. Now the farthest right column of widgets is displaying below the other widget column that was in the middle.

Hi Carla – Happy to give it a shot!

My hunch is that you are viewing your site in a browser on a smaller device such as a laptop, tablet or phone and you are witnessing the responsive nature of the theme as it re-orients the sidebars to display well for the device.

If you look at the site on a desktop/full width browser, does the issue of

“the farthest right column of widgets is displaying below the other widget column that was in the middle”

    persist?

    Hi there,

Sidebars and widgets in them do not fall to the bottom and display below posts and/or posts do not appear in sidebars unless

    (1) content has been imported into the blog

    (2) the blogger has been copying and pasting content from elsewhere, without using either icon 5 or icon 6 in Row 2 of the visual editor http://en.support.wordpress.com/visual-editor/#pasting-text

    (3) or the blogger has copied and pasted invalid HTML into a text widget or left an HTML tag open

After you go here and enable this > Settings > Writing
    Formatting
_ WordPress should correct invalidly nested XHTML automatically
    “save changes”

    For sorting this out see:

    @catscholz
Thanks for the invite to join your private blog. I’m overstretched and will not be accepting it or any invitations.

I answer questions here while multitasking from my business and I also practice my music as I answer questions. I sing a lot. I’m involved in 3 different groups and I don’t have time to add anything else to my life. Thanks for understanding. :)

    Hi Cat,

Thanks for taking a crack at this! I am viewing on a laptop, but I know that when you’re editing.. there are 3 icons which i thought were for computer, pad device, and cell phone, but I see that the “computer” one you’re saying is for a desktop. I’ve been so good about confirming how the images would look on all 3 devices, but never realized there isn’t one for laptops.

I do know however, that when I first viewed it, I could see all 3 “columns” and now I can’t. I saw on some forum that it could mean the image posted with a post could be too big, so I changed to a “smaller” image. But that didn’t correct it. [the other day i found a way to view my blog as if i were someone else viewing it, but of course I can’t find that again!]

I looked at the 3 links timethief included and they don’t apply. I haven’t imported any content (no idea what icons 5 and 6 are) and I don’t do anything/know anything about html.

I’ll see if I can get a friend who has a desktop to take a look. Thanks for your help!

    PS Beautiful version of Hallelujah!

@timethief – we are lucky to have you here on the forums, thanks! you must have some “mad” multi-tasking skills to be able to practice music while answer forums questions! :)

Carla – thank you for listening and appreciating! :)

This is what I see on my wide desktop (iMac): http://grab.by/OLCW

When I size my browser down to about 1250 pixels wide, this is what I see: http://grab.by/OLD6 and the far right sidebar content moves below the 1st right sidebar content in a really nice way.

    Hope this helps!
