Hide username on site's author URL

  Hi,
  I run a site with several other post authors. If you click on the name of an author the URL of the author page displays their username in the URL. How can I change this to either hide their username in the URL or replace it with their nickname instead of their username.

  Hi there,

  This is how the WordPress software was designed to treat author permalinks.

  On WordPress.com there is no way to change this behaviour. On a self-hosted WordPress site you might be able to change it using a plugin, but the self-hosted forums is a better place to ask about that:
