Hiding categories and ugly Publish Date on Manifest Theme (converted from Misty)
-
I just converted my blog from Misty to Manifest. The old posts look beautiful, without the tags and categories showing, with a nice date subtly at the top of the post.
When I preview the new post, it is showing “by heidistraubephotographer” at the top of the post, and putting really ugly “Publish Date” and Categories at the end of the post.
How can I hide the Published date and Categories showing the way they are on my new Manifest blog posts? When I previewed other blogs who used this theme, they didn’t have this look.
Thanks –

There’s no difference between the new post and the previous ones: you’re just confusing the main page view with the single post view. Click on the title of any post to see.

Thanks for yo ur quick response – I hadn’t put up a new post yet, so I went ahead and did it – now you can see what I’m talking about…

I’m not seeing what you’re talking about.

[etc.]
No difference: all of them sport the author byline below the title, and datestamp, cats and tags below the post.Main page view:

No post displays author byline etc. The only difference is that your latest post doesn’t dispaly the title, because you’ve set it as an Image format post. -
hmm, now I’m confused. It cut off the whole poem, only did the first two lines.
That’s because I set as an Image?(I didn’t have these choices with last theme, or at least I wasn’t aware of it.)
So do you know which format shows total picture and writing? Standard?
My understanding is that “Gallery” doesn’t show any writing. When I do preview, it still shows the whole poem…and the title on top, so I can’t tell from there.
You are right, the tags and categories are not showing up now on the main page, and I see what you’re talking about with single post view, they show up there, plus the whole poem.
So my biggest question is, how do I have the whole poem show up on the main page?
Thanks, if you know…

I think I got it – used “Standard” and it picked up the whole poem.
The “Image” picked up what I wrote in the excerpt – that’s nice, will remember that for the future. I liked that as a short caption for the image, it worked well :).
OK, I think I’m set – thank you for helping, I appreciate it. If you know anything else that’s helpful with this format, or that you see that’s not viewer friendly, let me know – thanks –

1. “It cut off the whole poem, only did the first two lines. That’s because I set as an Image?”
Yes.2. “I didn’t have these choices with last theme”.
Right: some themes support alternative post formats and some don’t.3. “So do you know which format shows total picture and writing? Standard?”
Yes.4. “My understanding is that “Gallery” doesn’t show any writing.”
On the main page a gallery format post shows sample thumbnail, number of images, link to post.5. “When I do preview, it still shows the whole poem…and the title on top”.
Because when you preview you’re seeing the single-post view, not the main-page view.6. “So my biggest question is, how do I have the whole poem show up on the main page?”

You’re welcome – sorry, obviously I typed my previous reply before seeing your last one.

No apology necessary, it’s so wonderful to be able to post the challenge and have your answer pop up! I appreciate the clarity and your knowledge.
Thanks for pointing out the difference between main page and single page – I think it would have taken me a while to figure that out :)
Now it makes total sense, of course –
OK, thanks – hope you’re doing well wherever you are –
