  I’m trying to find a way to condense my posts on the main page. Currently I have a long, connected group of posts that the viewer has to scroll through completely. Which makes navigating posts annoying and tedious.
  What I’d like to have is a list of post titles with a short excerpt and one picture thumbnail to accompany it. I’ve been sifting through the settings and have not found a way to make this happen.
  Is it a theme issue or a settings issue? What steps do I need to take to correct this.

  You might consider splitting your content with the more tag:
