Hiding featured images on single post pages with Twenty Fourteen

    Hi,

    I’m trying to hide the featured images above post titles on single post pages. I’m using the default Twenty Fourteen theme.

    I know this question has been asked before and I tried adding 

    .single .post-thumbnail {
    display: none;
}

    to the custom CSS. But now, as you can see on the blog, there is no space between the black header bar and the post title so the title is cut off.
