Hiding ‘pages’ in header (giving parent page doesn’t work)
-
Is there a way I can hide certain pages from being listed in my header? I’m using a theme that does not hide pages when given a parent category.. as you can see on this page, the page that should be hidden is ‘desktop wallpapers’ and with it in my header it is looking a bit messy, and that’s only with 1 extra page that shouldn’t be there…
http://itsangel.com/index.php?page_id=6
(to view other pages you need to enter ‘index.php’ before the ‘?’ in the URL after you click on the link)There are going to be about 30+ pages on this website, and I only realised after working on it for 4 days straight that I can’t hide certain pages!
Someone please tell me there’s something I can do about this other than taking the ‘insert pages’ code away and typing in the page links manually in to the header.

The folks over at http://wordpress.org/support/ may know a trick. We here don’t deal with the underlying code.

From your browser, in your dashboard
Open a tab to manage “pages”
Mouse over the title of a page you want to hide, and read the status bar at the bottom of your browser http://yourblogname/a bunch of stuff I don’t know and at the end it says “post=123” or whatever the number is that page. Remember that number. It is the “Page ID.”
Open a tab to manage “widgets”
On your “Pages” widget, click “edit”
You will see a box to title your pages.
Followed by “Sort by:” box (drop down menu:page order or whatever you choose).
Then there is a box called “Exclude:”
This is where you type in the numbers of the pages you want to hide separated by commas.
Type in the “Page ID” you just found. Tab back to the manage pages, get the number of another page you want to hide. Tab to the widgets and add that to the “Exclude” and so on.Or just use a pencil and paper to mark down the page IDs to type in the exclude box.

Thanks but I don’t have a pages widget, the pages menu is in my header.. no worries I just deleted the code in my header and typed the pages I want in manually. (This was the website I was talking about – http://itsangel.com/index.php?page_id=6 – not the one linked to this account.) Thanks anyway.

You’ll find more appropriate answers over at WordPress.org. Our software here works very differently.
