Hiding Pages or splitting a Gallery

  • Unknown's avatar

    Hi,

I have a section within my blog that displays a Gallery of Wallpapers.
This Gallery is becoming quite large and as such I would like to split the gallery over several pages.
As far as I can tell there is no way to split the gallery view over several pages automatically.

So my option would be to create several pages.
The current page would become an overview page and I would then add several other pages.
I would like these pages NOT to be visible from the main menu but only available via links within the actual pages themselves. Can this be done and if so how can I do this.

I am using the Selecta theme by Oblox Designs.
    My primary blog is: http://retrovgm.wordpress.com
    The Wallpaper Gallery is: http://retrovgm.wordpress.com/custom/wallpapers/

    Thanks,

    Dave

    Hi.
    just a suggestion.
WP has a “NextPage” tag that can split a page or past over several sub- pages:

    Thank you for the suggestion.
I’ve had a read of the link you have provided and while it would be a good idea to break up longer posts I don’t think that I’d be able to use this to automatically spread a Gallery over several pages as the Gallery appears as its own object and the size based on the number of images attached to the page/post.

So, as I don’t think the above will work (I will try it later as I’m using my phone atm) is there another way to hide pages or sub-pages without them appearing in the menus??

    Thanks,

    Dave

Yes, if you create a custom menu. Details here:

You know I’d never thought about Custom Menus as I’ve never really looked at using them. From reading the link you provided (some other good stuff there!) I do believe this could resolve my problem.

Now its 23:45 over here in the UK so I won’t be able to have a play around until sometime on Tuesday. As I won’t be able to test Custom Menus I am going to leave this post open and not mark as ‘Resolved’ just yet.

Once I have had a play around on my testing blog I’ll post again, hopefully to mark this one as resolved!

    Thanks,

    Dave

Had a play around with custom menus on my ‘testing blog’ and custom menus work very nicely.

    Problem resolved :)

    Thanks,

    Dave
