  Is it possible to put my blog offline for a little while? so that it does not show up in a google search just yet?

  There are two ways you can do this. The easiest one is to set the blog visibility to “private” until you wish to “go live” when you can set it to “public”. See here > http://en.support.wordpress.com/settings/privacy-settings/

  The another approach is to create a static page stating the blog is under development on and make it the front page of your blog for the duration. http://en.support.wordpress.com/pages/
