Hiding the Category word from Category pages

  • Unknown's avatar

    Hello there!
    I’m using Perennial theme. Would like to change the following if possible:

    1) My site is in Spanish, can I change the word “category” on the url for “categoria”?

    https://faunageographic.com/category/animales-domesticos/

    2) On the home page, just beneath Post 5 and Post 6, there is a button “Entradas Antiguas“… I want to change the words, from “Entradas Antiguas” to “Publicaciones Anteriores”

    3)On Category pages, how can I hide the word “Categoría:” from the title?

    https://faunageographic.com/category/bien-estar-animal/

    Many thanks for your help
    Ralph

  • Hi Ralph,

    My site is in Spanish, can I change the word “category” on the url for “categoria”?

    Unfortunately this isn’t possible with CSS. Sorry about that! You could do it with a Business plan though, by changing your Permalink structure for categories.

    For the second one, try this:

    div#infinite-handle button {
        display: none;
    }

    div#infinite-handle span:after {
        content: "Publicaciones Anteriores";
    }

    Note I haven’t been able to test that in all situations yet (different screen sizes and what not) so please confirm it’s working as expected.

    For the third one, I can’t seem to hide the Categoría without hiding the category name, too. Would that be OK? Or, you could hide just Categoría with a Business plan. In this case you would need a child theme. With a child theme, you could also get a better solution for the “older posts” fix, too.

    Let us know if you have more questions on this!

    You can change the URL of the blog using permalinks settings if you have business plan.
    Below are steps to do

    1. go to your wp-admin using link https://faunageographic.com/wp-admin/
    2. Click Settings -> Permalinks. Once there, select this option: “Custom Structure”
    3. Place value for “custom Structure” as /%category%/
    4. Place Value for “Category base” as categoria

    It will give you URL structure like
    https://faunageographic.com/categoria/animales-domesticos/

    2) On the home page, just beneath Post 5 and Post 6, there is a button “Entradas Antiguas“… I want to change the words, from “Entradas Antiguas” to “Publicaciones Anteriores”

    button {

    visibility: hidden;
    }

    button:after {
    content: “Publicaciones Anteriores” !important;
    visibility: visible;
    display: block;
    }

    3)On Category pages, how can I hide the word “Categoría:” from the title?

    https://faunageographic.com/category/bien-estar-animal/

    h1.page-title::first-line {
    color: #f5f5f5;
    }

    I hope it helps!
