Hiding widgets on post pages?
-
Does anyone know if it’s possible to hide the widgets found on the main page when you go into a post.
Home pages with widgets and the page with the actual post on it a full width page with no widgets.
Any ideas how?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Sure.
Go to your Widgets page and click on the small arrow in the titlebar of the widget which will open up an options menu.
Click on visibility. Then change the dropdowns to “Hide” if “Page” is “All single posts”.
You can add additional rules as needed, just do this for each widget you’d like to hide on the posts page.

Uh, really? I don’t think I’ve ever heard of that. In WP.com you simply have to pick a theme that shows widgets the way you want.

Champion!
One more tiny question, is it possible to hide the sidebar or set the post page to full width?
Thanks for your help!

Good luck with that. I see nothing that indicates that’s WordPress.com.
My advice is to change to a theme that functions the way you want.

It works, check out my own posts and you’ll see no widgets. It’s easy to do and SO helpful!

I haven’t done that before, but after a little looking around it appears that you may have to customize the CSS (which involves a customization upgrade) to remove it.
A few posts on the subject:

I’ll check those out. I’m thinking I might set up a hosted wordpress so I can edit the php files.
Thank you Gureggu. You sir, are a gentleman and a scholar. Good day to you.

@raincaoster
Staff have done a widget upgrade sans announcement. There is now a visibility selector inside widgets. Check it out. -
I had noticed these widget upgrades about a week ago, but they were not active yet. This is SOOOOOO kewl and has been sooooo needed. Kudos to the widget elves.

I can’t find the changes on the widgets on one cool site. I must have experienced them on my test blogs or on this time this space. Off to check.
