Highlighting text

I already posted this question once but I don’t know how to access the forums since I am new to this site. But I have spent a significant amount of time trying to figure out how to highlight texts in a blog post so that it appears on the final page. In the edit screen I switched to HTML view and added <mark> text here </mark> and it highlighted the text when I then switched it to the visual view. But this did not carry over to the final viewing page. Is there an easier way to highlight text and one that works for showing up on the final page?

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    Hi there!

It really depends on the theme. Some may not be able to display the highlight using that method.

You could try wrapping your text in this instead! :)

    <span style="background-color:yellow;">Your text</span>

Yay that worked! Thank you for your response.
However, it’s still a bit frustrating that I have to be in the html tab in order to highlight. It’d be a lot easier if there was a button on the editing bar for text! Is there anyway WordPress.com can develop that? Highlighting is something I’m going to be using a lot!

We’ll certainly keep it in mind for an update :)
