Hijack?
-
How come when I search my own site using Google, somehow someone else’s pages and images manage to dominate the options and actually there are no links to my own web log, which is really why people will be entering my domain name at all. I wouldn’t mind if they don’t try, but if folks take the time to enter my URL, then it would be expected that they find what they are looking for, not some other person’s pages, however good (or better) they are. If Google is not used, my site is easily reached using the address. Is Google allowing sites to be hijacked and if so, how can this be reversed?

Thanks Staartmees,
I did that thanks so I’ll wait to see what happens. I also found that others have had similar issues where a competitor’s (not competitor in my case, just fellow blogger) business icons were coming up before their own on a Google search. I am thinking, based on limited experience as I am new to this blogging thing, that if you comment on another blogger’s post, images from their site get attached somehow to your domain name and so show up when your URL is typed in using Google. I think ‘hijack’ was a strong word but I meant that none of the images had any obvious link to my domain name, so how they were recognised as having anything to do with my site is quite odd. Maybe you just have to live with it or you don’t engage with other sites’ posts (that would be odder)? Have a good week. -
Hello,
Wordpress does not have any control over Google or other search engines, unfortunately. There are many changes taking place in cyberland amongst the giant techs which seem to be kept from the public. This is not WordPress’s fault.
They could be capitalizing on such moves.

Thanks for responding. I know it’s an issue with Google and not WordPress. It doesn’t look like much can be done about it. Just have to hope that whatever appears on searches of my domain name is wholesome. Nothing of the content so far bothers me, it’s just not mine and if some are looking for me on Google, they won’t find me. Don’t make no sense but ‘hey ho’.
