schlossderwal.com is hosted by Digital Ocean
WHOIS: Click Here
IP Address: 104.131.0.157
Name Servers:
ns3.digitalocean.com
ns2.digitalocean.com
ns1.digitalocean.comNon-WordPress.com Nameservers
Although schlossderwal.com has been registered, it is not using WordPress.com nameservers. If your domain is mapped to a self-hosted site, then your configuration may be fine as currently set up. If you wish to host your site at WordPress.com, you will need to update your nameservers as outlined below. We require that your name server configuration include only the following servers or their numeric equivalents:
NS1.WORDPRESS.COM
NS2.WORDPRESS.COM
NS3.WORDPRESS.COMYour name servers are as follows:
NS1.DIGITALOCEAN.COM
NS2.DIGITALOCEAN.COMIf you have access to change the nameservers for this domain, please remove all nameservers not on the required list above.

Correct, I had web servers hosting content at digital ocean. That does not explain how or why the domain is serving content clearly from Duke University. The domain control is ultimately under WordPress as they are who host the A-Record. I don’t simply want to point it back to my content, I want to figure out what I can do about this with whoever made the un-authorized change.

Staff will respond to you question as soon as they work their way forward to this thread. Thanks, in advance, for being patient.

I think you will need to talk to DigitalOcean. We’re sending traffic to schlossderwal.com to the digital ocean servers, but there appears to be something amiss once it gets there. Like perhaps they have accidentally associated that domain with the duke hosting account.

Ahhh,
I may see the problem. You have both an A Record pointing to what I assume is a Digital Ocean IP address and Digital Ocean nameservers.
You need one or the other. If you are going to use an A Record, you need to be using WordPress.com nameservers. If you are using Digital Ocean nameservers, you can’t have an A Record.
Having both can cause weird stuff to happen. I’m not 100% sure that this is the issue here, but it is a logical place to start.
