Hijacked links
-
I have discovered that several of the links in my blog posts have been hijacked, and redirected to a gaming site. What can I do about this, besides finding them and correcting them one by one?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hello @propagandaprofessor,
I’m sorry to hear you’re having this issue! Would you mind posting a link to your site so that I can take a look at it?
Best,
Travis -
Thanks, Travis. At this point, I’ve corrected the instances I’ve found, but when I find another one, I’ll post it. I’m pretty certain there will be more — I’ve found them in more than one post, and in one particular post, all of the links (about 10 of them) had been changed!

How annoying! Well, keep me posted about it and I’ll see what I can do. Otherwise, good luck.

Hi there, first of all, please don’t change any more links because that makes it really difficult to track down and debug the issue.
I’ve also tagged this for Staff assistance. Please be patient while waiting for their reply.

Also, please run a malware scan on your computer to ensure that you are not infected with malware or adware. Try disabling any extensions one by one to rule out that as a source of the hijacking.

Also, @propagandaprofessor, can you confirm you’re referring to a site that is hosted here with us?
-
I’m not sure how to do that except give you the address of my site, which is propagandaprofessor.net

Thanks for the link. I found the changed revision here:
https://propagandaprofessordotnet2.wordpress.com/wp-admin/revision.php?revision=5855All of the posts that mention that particular site were modified that way on the same day, which seems to suggest someone was able to access your account then. The changes were made by your account.
Have you thought about enabling two-step authentication?

And I would also suggest immediately changing your password on both your WordPressdotcom account and the email address associated with it.
Here are some additional security suggestions that you may wish to check out as well: https://en.support.wordpress.com/security/

Thanks for the suggestions. I don’t know how the breach occurred, as I haven’t used a public computer in years. In any case, I will be more diligent and I appreciate all the comments.
