Historic post stats not working?
-
Nothing happens when I click on these. Is there some setting that needs adjusting somewhere? If so, I couldn’t find anything. :-(
-

If you go into “Dashboard”, then “Manage”, then “Posts”, you have a list of all your posts, with options to view, edit, delete. There is also a column headed “Stats” which are meant to provide stats on that particular post if you click on them. However, when I click on them, it takes me to a page that says “These are the stats for just this post.” But nothing is displaying.
-
You are confusing something. In the Manage -> Posts section there is a button for “Status” as in draft, private, published.
The Blog stats link one line below that
Dashboard Blog Stats Blog Surfer My Comments Tag Surfer -
Thanks for your replies. However, here are the headings from the “Manage” “Posts” page:
ID When Title Categories Comments Author Stats
Beneath the “Stats” heading there is a small graph displayed. Somewhere on WordPress it says that by clicking on the graph, the stats for the individual post are shown. But on my blog, they are not.
-
Also, under Blog Stats, Top Posts, there is a little graph which should give the breakdown of stats for that post – http://wordpress.com/blog/2006/11/04/historical-post-stats/
That too is not giving any stats.
-
They certainly should be – always assuming that post has some stats to display. If no-one has clicked through to that individual post, there will be no stats.
Sometimes I find I have to wait a few seconds for the graph to display; are you sure you’re waiting long enough? Also, it could be an issue with your browser. Do the “cookie dance” and see if that helps.

The Cookie Dance
step 1. log out
step 2. clear your browser cookie
step 3. clear your browser cache/temporary internet files
step 4. close your browser
step 5. go back and test -
The link I gave you will give you instructions but basically it’s a WordPress.com forum “pet name” for the process of clearing out cookies, temporary internet files, etc, from your browser. Sometimes this is all that is standing in the way of a site working the way it should.

Thank you. I’ll have to do that in the morning, as at the moment I am in the middle of a very long (nearly five hour) download, and I can’t close Firefox down until it has finished.
-
The graphs are, I think, Flash based and sometimes you have to update your Flash to see them. Some people have reported that updating helps.
-
-
Also make sure you are running the latest version of Firefox. 1.x.x versions had some problems.
-
Hello again everybody
I have updated the Flash; Java and Javascript are enabled; I’m running Firefox 2.0.0.11. I have done the cookie dance (twisted my ankle :-) ), and the stats aren’t showing. :-(
-
The only thing I can of is to try it in another browser. Do you have something like IE7 or Opera you can try? If it works in another browser, then it’s got to be a problem with Firefox (though I can’t think what it’d be). If it’s the same in another browser, though, then it might be a problem with your blog which you’d need to contact staff about when support opens. Other than that, a long shot, but are you using Norton Antivirus or a security firewall that might be interfering?
-
Just checked in IE, and the stats are showing. The Stats page displays differently in IE, with a graph at the top of the page, which I have never seen before because it isn’t there in Firefox. cjwriter, you seem to have put your finger on the problem. I don’t use NA. I have AVG, and also Ad-Aware, Spybot and CCleaner, plus Windows Defender.
