Hit Counter Problems
-
I took my hit counter down a while back because my sister was starting a blog and I didn’t want her discouraged when she compared her stats with mine.
Later I decided to add the hit counter back, but it only recorded the hits since I took it down.
So I took it down again and am wondering if there is a way to reset it to my actual stats. If not, would it be okay to use a third party hit counter that I could reset?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Well, since I didn’t get an answer, I combed through all the free counter websites to try to find one that did not include ads.
I finally decided on one from http://www.tinycounter.com/. They do not include ads, but they do link back to their free counter site.
I hope that’s okay.

Oops. The numbers quit showing and “Free Web Counter” showed up instead. So I guess I will just do without a hit counter.
Sad, because I’m kind of proud of them.

If it was a Widget showing page views then the count should have updated when you put it back in the sidebar
-
The widget did not count the views from the first time I had it installed. I had taken it down, and when I put it back up it only counted the hits that happened after I had taken it down. All the hits before then, since the beginning of my blog, were lost.
I had hoped that there was some way to reset the WordPress widget to match the stats.

Hi tinycamper, the Blog Stats Widget should display all of your blog’s hits and not just the hits after you add the widget to your blog. I tested this and wasn’t able to reproduce the problem you mentioned.
Would you mind adding the blog stats widget back to your blog so I can take a look?

rachel, I just reinstalled the stats widget at the very bottom of the right column.
It is only showing a little over 12,000 hits. I named it rachel so you would know it was for you to check out.
My WordPress stats are showing 204,233, and statcounter is showing 204,256.

It’s working since I reloaded the page!
I am so sorry for the trouble!!!!!!!!!
But thanks SO MUCH for telling me to put it back up!
Going to get rid of statcounter and put my WordPress stats back near the top now!
-
Just in case anyone ever asks this again, the number 12,000+ showed in the widget when I installed it. Only when I reloaded the page did the number reset to current stats.

Rachel, I don’t want to be a spammer, but I am so thrilled to have my stats widget back.
THANKS AGAIN!!!!

I’m really glad this worked for you! :) By the way, I also really like your blog — I love camping, and it’s neat to read about your camping experiences. Happy blogging!
