hit counter widget/slide show

  i’m currently using the wordpress blog stats widget. is it possible to use the hit counter download instead? i went to the site, they gave me the code to copy, but i don’t know where to paste it, if its even possible. i also made a slide show from slide.com, but it was put in as a post. is it possible to put it as a widget in the side bar?

  What do you mean by hit counter download? Is it a plugin? If it is then you can’t use that on your blog; they only work on self-hosted WordPress.org blogs. If you mean a stat counter website, you can use their code but you need to make sure it’s an HTML code; other codes won’t work. The FAQ lists a few good ones which you can use.

  For the slideshow, it might work but it won’t fit inside your theme so it might look funny, or might even knock your sidebar to the bottom of your blog… your best bet is probably to put it in a page instead of a post so people can find it more easily. Hope that helps.

  thanks for the quick reply cjwriter! hit-counter-download is a website that offers just a hit counter, not so much a detailed stat provider like site meter or stat counter. they just have different themes of how the blog views numbers will appear on the blog. not sure though if its a plug-in (sorry not really tech-savvy). yeah i kinda guessed it wont work since wordpress has its own blog stat widget. oh well…thanks for the help!

  You can try pasting the code in a text widget. If it doesn’t work, there’s your answer.

  You can’t put slideshows in your sidebar except with the Vodpod widget, as far as I know.

  raincoaster, thankyouthankyouthankyou!!! it worked!!! i tried pasting it at the text widget and it worked! i didn’t even know what a text widget was. i had to look it up. i love how it worked. i was even able to shift my site meter from my blog roll (where i didnt want it) to the bottom-most of my side bar as another text widget. again, thank you! i love how my blog looks like now.
