hits computation
-
based from my computaion of my hits today, i had something like twenty plus hits today. but when i read the breakdown, i only had nine views. i don’t understand the computation. please help me on this.
-
Hits? wordpress.com stats only counts views. What is the “title” of the stats you are referring to?
-
im referring to the number of hits on the site page (on the left). then when i check breakdown, eg how many read this blog and that, it doesn’t tally with the total number of views. in other words, breakdown computation doesn’t tally with the total.

If someone only comes to your first page that would be a view. If they go to a specific blog entry that would be listed as an individual item in the stats. So its the difference between a general overall number and specific posts. Most people have more than one blog entry on their opening page so stats would be skewed if each entry on one page was counted once specifically.

This should clarify a couple of things
http://faq.wordpress.com/2006/02/09/questions-about-stats/
or here
http://faq.wordpress.com/2006/01/03/blog-stats/
which says: “Why don’t Post Views add up to Total Views? Post Views accounts for visits to each single article. There are many parts of a blog that cannot be counted as Post Views: the front page, archives, search results, etc. Thus you may have more Total Views than Post Views, but not the other way around.” -
btw, do the other wordpress members get to see our blogs too? i mean, how do people get to find out about us?

Firstly, you can add your blog URL to your profile. That way, people can find it by clicking your picture in the forums. Go to Edit Profile and add your blog URL in the field that says “Website”.
