Hits from weird URLS
-
I recently launched a blog with wordpress.com and in my site stats I am seeing hits coming from unknown weird URLs like asmaredanu.ce.ms/geli-geleman.php 4
kepokleko.ce.ms/fasha-sundal.php. These links are connecting to some one page sites not sure how to interpret hits/clicks from these sites to my blog. Is this any phishing/hacking/XSS attempt. Have you seen such URLs? Any help is appreciated. The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

It’s not phishing/hacking/XSS. It’s called Referrer Spam and it’s very common. They make a link to your site, click through it, and then delete the link. The idea is to get you to click back and look at their spam site, so they make money on the ads.
Report those URLs to staff via your dashboard Help button and they’ll remove them from your stats.

Same in my stats:
asmaredanu.ce.ms/pelakoh-ghuyup.php
kepokleko.ce.ms/rahim-tambi-cik.php
Didn´t click on it, because it really looks weird! Seems to be a kind of a new problem?!?! -
Response from staff:
Thanks for reporting this – we are aware of this problem and are working hard to find a solution to fix it.
Some background: what you’re experiencing is called “Referrer Spam”, and it’s an unfortunate side effect of the way statistics tracking works. Spammers take advantage of the referrer logs and visit your blog from phantom URLs that they are actually trying to promote, in the hope that you see them in your logs and click them.
In the meantime, you can rest assured that there is no security risk here, to you or to you blog. It’s just an annoyance, but one we will hopefully be able to get rid of very soon.

1. Do not click the links.
2. Do not post the URL or names of the site into forum threads.
3. Report all spam referrals to Staff directly . -
