Hits on my site
-
I have had 8 hits in the last 24 hours but my site is not public and I have’t made it searchable. I have not told anyone about the blog yet because I’m not sure yet if I want to use WordPress. I have only visited the site once in the last 24 hours. Can you tell me why I get the hits?

Yes, it’s because your own visits when logged in are being recorded. Private blogs, which can be viewed only by users chosen by the administrator, now track the page views of all of their users.

P.S. It’s not “visits” that are being counted it’s “page views”. So you clicked and opened 8 pages.

Well, I was aware that some of those hits were probably me. But I only clicked to my site once in the 24-hr span and I really only have one blog posted so there’s no way to go to 8 different pages. I don’t have 8 pages to go to.

One can click into the same page on any blog 8 times and the result will be 8 page views. Perhaps Staff entered your blog to do some maintenance work on it. I’ll flag this thread for Staff attention. Please be patient while waiting.
