Hive design style adjustments

  • Unknown's avatar

I am considering to get the hive theme for a blog, but by its style guide (https://hivedemo.wordpress.com/style-guide/) it looks like it is necessary to have css knowledge to customize the theme. Is that right? I do not know how to code so I need to confirm if i will be able to use all the features without coding.

    Thank you in advance,
    Renata

  • Hi Renata! You can use Hive without any CSS knowledge or coding.

Adding those CSS classes to your HTML is only needed if you’d like to use one of those extra styles on the page. And even if you decided to use them, you don’t need custom CSS available on your site, because the CSS is baked right into the theme already.

For example, if you wanted to display two columns like you see on that page, you’d switch to the HTML editor and add a bit of code there following the example, and your text would automatically be displayed in two columns.

But the theme is designed to look perfectly good without those additional styles. Your posts will appear in a grid like the demo, for example.

If you need help with anything else, just let us know!

    Hello Kath,
Thank you for your prompt reply.

I will probably need some extra help when I finish to write the first post and start the blog. :)

Thank you again for your support!
    Renata

  • Sure! Feel free to start new threads either here in the CSS forum or in the Themes forum if you need further help.

Once you purchase Hive, you will also have access to its dedicated forum, where the theme’s creator will respond directly:

    Have fun and good luck!
