  • Unknown's avatar

Hi, I want to cancel all upgrades but can’t do it on my own, the links I follow create a vicious cycle I can’t get out of.
I tried to go to’go to purchases to add or cancel a plan’, but get redirected to Purchases section I can’t do anything with! No way to cancel or add a plan!
    Please help!

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Are you logged in under the exact same username account that registered the underlying .wordpress.com site and purchased the upgrade for it? That’s required, of course. If it wasn’t then anyone could cancel another person’s upgrades.

    1. What is the domain URL?
    2. What is the underlying .wordpress.com URL?
    3. Exactly which username account registered the underlying .wordpress.com blog and purchased the upgrade for it?
    4. When was the upgrade purchased?
    5. When did the refund request and upgrade cancellation take place?

    Refunds
WordPress.com provides a 30-day refund on all upgrades except Domain Registrations, Domain Renewals, and Guided Transfers. The refund period for Domain Registrations and Renewals is 48 hours.

Note: It takes from 1 – 2 weeks for the refund to be received.

    Canceling upgrades
You have to be logged in as Admin http://en.support.wordpress.com/user-roles/#administrator under the exact same username account that registered the blog to access the blog’s dashboard, cancel any upgrades, claim a refund for any qualified upgrades, and disable auto-renew. Dashboard > Store > My Upgrades. You can also disable auto-renew there. http://en.support.wordpress.com/my-upgrades/#canceling-upgrades

  • Hi there,

There are no current no subscriptions or plans under the account that you are contacting us from. Do you happen to own a second account where the upgrades could be connected to?

    Let me know, thanks!

    Hi Darnellidbbles,
The problem is that when I tried to simply delete the account a window pops up telling me i have active premium upgrades I need to delete prior to deleting the site. Grr….

  • Gotcha. There is a premium theme under your account that is most likely preventing you from deleting the account. I can remove that theme so that you can remove the account, but might I suggest placing the site to private. It does the same thing in the sense that the site will not be accessible to anyone outside of yourself or those who you invite to view the site privately. However, if you ever change your mind, you’ll still be able to regain access to the site and you’ll be able to retain the theme you have purchased.

Otherwise ,let me know if you want to continue the site deletion and I will remove the theme upgrade for you.

    Thanks!

Yeah, I agree that going to private (done that already) might be a better solution in case I ever need to use that site again or get some content from it. Thanks for your help!

But wait, my site is in “private”, but I can still see it active in google. Could you explain why? If that’s the case I will have to remove it after all!

  • Hi there,

It’ll usually take up to 4-6 weeks for the content that is indexed in Google to be removed now that the site is set to private. It’s up to Google to decide when and how to include/remove the pages from search results, WordPress.com doesn’t have any control over that. For more information you can read our FAQ about search engines here:
    http://en.support.wordpress.com/search-engines/

You can try requesting removal from Google by following the instructions here:
    http://www.google.com/support/webmasters/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=92865

Google also provides information and tools for webmasters, you might find further information on their tools here:
    http://en.support.wordpress.com/webmaster-tools/

Let me know if you have any questions.

    Thanks!

    Hi,
Thanks for the answer. 4-6 weeks is far too long for me, i will have to go with option number two, that is deleting the site. Could you please remove the premium theme so that I can delete the site?
    Thanks
    Agnieszka

  • The theme upgrade has been removed. Please let me know if you have any questions. Thanks!
