Ho to insert image on WordPress blog using link from fine art america
-
Hi,
I read all steps which relate to insertion of image using URL.
It does not show up on my blog as image.
I can insert link, give it a name and it works, but I have noticed some other artists simply publish their images directly from Fine Art America, and they show up in full size, etc.
The most I get is small text which is linked to FAA, but it does not look visually good and attractive as it would if I had instead of a link name the image itself.
Does my theme support this? I don’t get these options which are shown in the screen shot in topic about inserting images via URL links.
What is wrong?
My blog is

Thanks in advance,
IneseThe blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Just to confirm, are these the instructions you have been trying to follow?
http://en.support.wordpress.com/images/uploading-images/#insert-an-image-from-the-webIf so, and they aren’t working for you, could you share a direct link to a page where you’ve tried to insert an image via URL and ended up with a text link instead? That will help me troubleshoot this issue.
Thanks!

Hi,
Yes, I tried, and the image does not appear. All I can get is title of link which works as link, but I would prefer an image since these are images of my paintings.
Thanks,

Hi again,
For instance here:

Hi there,
Thanks for the clarification. It sounds like you aren’t trying to display an image from Fine Art America on your site so much as you want to have an image on your site that links to your greeting cards etc. on their site. In that case, you need these instructions instead.
http://en.support.wordpress.com/links/image-links/
Please let me know if you sill have trouble after following the instructions above.

Hi,
I was doing obviously just that. In my case, no box appears “Link to”, there simply is not such an option.
I checked this out myself. Do you know something else about this type of linking?
Thanks,
Inese -
I see the problem now. The link to option is there, but you have to scroll the box up a little to see it.
Here’s a screen-shot to show you what I mean
https://cloudup.com/cSTPDEs4o3gDoes that help?

Ok, Thanks, I will try this. I mean, in my case, there was an empty screen below. Maybe I went the wrong path?
So, I go like always to Add media
Insert media from URL
Then box appears, I paste the link, there is small box for title
That’s it, there’s nothing more only
Insert into page
I don’t get such screen which you’re showing
I only have blank page with insert into page underneath
Why is that?
Thanks,
Inese -
No, I tried once again, there doesn’t appear such screen. How do I get onto it?
Thanks,
Inese -
Do you know how to add the image you want without the link?
If so, add the image you want to see in the post. Once that’s done I’ll show you how to add the link.
That will be simpler than trying to do both steps at once.

Hi,
If you had a look at my blog, you probably saw that it consists of all kinds of images. I know how to upload image, I know how to link my own images, I am able to link one post image with another, etc.
I would like to link with an image which is somewhere on the internet, not on my computer. I saw that some other artists who have Fine Art America accounts had linked images so that they appear as image in their posts while maintaining all the link features. I am able to place this only as a link text, but it would look way better if it appeared as linked IMAGE, not small text link. I don’t always have images which I have uploaded there.
Well, why does not this feature work? Theme? Premium? …org?
…com? That’s my question. I am working with graphic files and images all the way, it seemed strange that I cannot place this type of linked image on my posts or pages. I’m not worried about simply having that image. I need that image to be linked with website where it is.
Thanks,
Inese -
I’m placing one example from other artist
The lower image is linked with Fine Art America and it appears as image, that’s exactly what I need

I need that image to be linked with website where it is.
I understand this. The difficulty is this process happens in two steps. First you get the image displayed in the post (by using the post from url process) and then you add the link so that when users click on the photo they go to the other site. Trying to do both steps at once has been confusing, so I’m trying to make it simpler.
If you don’t have the image you want to use in your library already, you have to find the image url. This is not the same as the link to the webpage on Fine Art America.
For instance
In the example from your friend’s site the link to the image is:
http://render.fineartamerica.com/displayartwork.html?id=13475885&width=250&height=274&domainid=1where as the link to the website is:
In order for us to successfully add an image to your site via url, we need to have the url of the image.
Do you know how to get the image link from Fine Art America?
Well, why does not this feature work? Theme? Premium? …org?
This is not part of the problem. Your site has the capability to add an image this way, we just need to work through the process.

Thanks so much! I will try this.
No, I didn’t not realize there was an image URL and there was a link URL.
It’s no problem to copy the link URL. How about the image URL?
Not sure how and where I get the other one. Isn’t it originally in an iframe?
Kind regards,

Wonderful. Now you are ready to use this process.
http://en.support.wordpress.com/images/uploading-images/#insert-an-image-from-the-web
Post the image url in the box on the top of the page. Once you’ve done that more options will open up. You’ll add the link to the page by clicking custom url and adding the link in the box below the button.

Thanks so much! I will definitely do this later!
Have to see the doctor now.
You were very helpful!
Have a great evening!

Hi Liz,
It was such a long waiting at the doctor’s office. I tried quickly before I left, I small bit did it wrong, but it works, the image shows up. I slightly messed up the back link to FAA website. Need some rest now. Thanks a lot, it works for sure!
Have a great evening, too! I believe many people don’t get this since there are links and LINKS! -
