home.blog vs. wordpress.com

When someone signs up for a new WordPress blog or website, they are given a choice of subdomains such as home.blog but wordpress.com is not listed as an option.

Why not? Would you be willing to add wordpress.com back in as an option for new blogs?

Most *.home.blog URL’s appear to have an associated *home.wordpress.com URL, eg example.home.blog would be associated with examplehome.wordpress.com. Would it be possible for those blogs to use the *home.wordpress.com URL as the primary URL, without it redirecting to the *.home.blog URL?

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  • Hi, generally we’ll encourage a .blog subdomain because there are more options out there. But if there’s a .wordpress.com address you want and it’s not taken, you can get it by typing the full address.
