Home for twenty fourteen
-
My site is http://www.hkfol.org.
I have two questions. my siteʻs front page is “my recent post,” but I would like to also display it under HOME on the main menu, so that viewers can easily get back to the page. I realize it can be accomplished by clicking on my blog title, but it is not obvious to everyone as “HOME” button is. How can I accomplish this?
Second question is when I include “category” in the menu, post is the category is treated as “archived,” so it is no longer shown on the front page. Is there a way to show category in the menu without making post with the category assignment archived?
I suppose I can assign “HOME” category to every post, in addition to true category, and make the category a menu item, but I would rather not do that.
Thank you for your help! The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

To add a Home link to your custom menu, click “View All” – then select the “Home” item, and add it to your menu. Save your changes when done.

Could you please provide a link to a post which is being excluded from the front page? That doesn’t sound like the expected behaviour, so I’d like to investigate. Thanks.

If you have a post as part of the theme’s Featured Content area, that post will not be included on the blog index, to avoid repetition. That’s how Featured Content works. If you’d like the post to appear on the blog index, you’ll need to remove its “featured” tag, as it’s not possible to have the post both in the blog stream and the Featured Content area at the same time.
Let me know if this answers your question.
