'home' menu broken; 2011

    Hi,

I’m not too sure what I’ve done, but the ‘home’ button no longer works on my site. Instead, I get this message “This is somewhat embarrassing, isn’t it? It seems we can’t find what you’re looking for. Perhaps searching, or one of the links below, can help”. Note the Home page is set to ‘showcase template’ so that it can include static and dynamic content (featured post), and that under ‘settings>reading’, I’ve selected ‘Front Page displays a static page with front page being ‘home’ and posts page being ‘news’. The only way I can get back to the ‘home’ page is by clicking on the logo, not the ‘home’ button.

    Thanks for your help

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

You deleted the Hello World placeholder post (not page) and as soon as you publish a post (not page) that 404 (page not found) error message will be gone.

    Create a custom 404 page

    Hi timethief.

Thanks, but that doesn’t seem to work. And in fact, there are normally already other ‘featured post’ + static context to show on the homepage. I’ve tried adding a new blog, both as a ‘featured’ and normal one, and it doesn’t work.

Ok, I managed to resolve this issue. Essentially, the first ‘Home’ menu was selected as ‘custom’, and not ‘page’. I selected home as page, and deleted the old (‘custom’) ‘home’ title. Resolved!
