  Love the theme I’m using but hate the white box on the feature image. Is there anyway to get rid of this?

  The white background you’re referring to is actually a part of the image that’s been uploaded as your site’s logo. It will need to be removed from the image itself and then re-uploaded via the Site Identity panel of the WordPress.com Customizer.
