Home page

When I was setting up my site I started off working from a different email address. I then changed the email address but kept the name of the site the same. I ended up with two sites of the same name, one of which I didn’t need. But the home page of the newer site still seemed to go back to the old email address. So I deleted the older site. Trouble is, my current Home page just goes into a dead zone of ‘page not found’. Doesn’t look too good or professional. Try as I might, I just can’t see how to get rid of the Home page. I don’t need it. All new arrivals at my site land at the Welcome page and choose where to go from there. Can I either get rid of my home page or make it worthwhile?

    Hi,

What’s the address (URL) of the site?

Can I either get rid of my home page or make it worthwhile?

Either, yes. If your homepage is a static page, then it can be edit/revised to include images, text, gallery, etc. If the homepage displays the latest posts, then you can publish posts with content to fill up the homepage.

If you go there, you’ll see what I mean.

    Thanks

    Hi,

Trouble is, my current Home page just goes into a dead zone of ‘page not found’.

The homepage of the site https://wordmeatmoshpit.wordpress.com/ is displaying the latest posts, and I find no “page not found” error there. You may display a static page as the homepage instead if you’d like to. How to do that is described in the Set a Static “Home” Page (Front Page) support page.

Try as I might, I just can’t see how to get rid of the Home page. I don’t need it.

At WordPress.com the phrase “home page” (aka “homepage”) is the front page of a website or blog. Every WordPress.com site has a homepage, though it’s title needn’t be “Home.” The homepage either displays a static page or the latest posts.

The “Home” menu item is linked to a deleted site. Is that what you’re referring to? If so, then that can be deleted from the menu as described in the Delete Menu Items section of the Custom Menus support page.

You may replace it with a link to the correct homepage as described in the Add Menu Items section of the same support page.
