Home Page Appearance Is Different Than Added Pages
-
Hi, my site is http://psmweddings.com/ and it’s using the Anemone theme. The theme can display a Page’s featured images on non-homepage pages (e.g: http://psmweddings.com/preferred-vendors/), but not on the homepage itself. It might be possible to add a similar featured image on the home page using CSS background image. Can you please help with the CSS code? Here’s the image to be used: https://psmweddings.files.wordpress.com/2015/10/good4-mother-425804_640.jpg Thank you!
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

You don’t need CSS for what you wish to do. You can try setting a featured image on your static home page.
Go to your Reading Settings page: https://psmweddings.wordpress.com/wp-admin/options-reading.php
Identify which page is set as your Static Front page.
Go to your All Pages screen: https://psmweddings.wordpress.com/wp-admin/edit.php?post_type=page
Edit the static front page and set a featured image on it.
This should display the featured image on your home page: http://psmweddings.com/
You have a Home menu which has a custom link to one of your blog posts: http://psmweddings.com/2015/09/04/home/ I think you wanted it this way.
Give it a try and let me know how it goes.

Thanks Chait,
That didn’t do anything. I had one wp support staff run through the traditional means of using the settings. He actually wrote out the question for me to post here because he thought that using CSS would be a way around the issue.
If there is a way to redirect my home page to the mentioned blog post that would also be acceptable. I just don’t want my actual home page to be the first page people land on.
Why would someone design a homepage that is uglier than the rest of the site?

We can’t redirect your visitors to a blog post by clicking on your header image. Clicking on header images takes the visitor to static front page which is Services, Packages, & Pricing page.
What you want is a very common use case and should be easily achievable. However I won’t have access to your dashboard so I can’t fully understand what’s going on your site. So I tagged this post for staff’s attention so they can double check this for you.

Thank you!
I switched the Static Page for now since it’s a little more visually appealing. Once resolved, I would like to switch it back to the actual home page.

The image you’re trying to use is much too small. Please try using an image that’s at least 2000 pixels wide by 800 pixels high.
