Home page as blog page – don’t want

  • Unknown's avatar

I have 5 pages set up as draft (‘about us’, ‘services’, ‘products’, ‘contact’, and ‘blog’). I have the home page named ‘home’. I have only ‘home’ published. The pages list says ‘Blog posts: The homepage is showing my latest posts.’ Yet in the menu, I have designated ‘home’ as my homepage. I have deleted everything from trash as I have been struggling to try and see why the directions on how to set a static page (‘home’) to be my homepage are not working. So when I look at the site on my other computer which has not been used to sign into this account, I get the homepage as the blog page. I don’t understand why this is happening or what I have done wrong to make this stay this way when I have followed the instructions properly. Help!

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    Hi there,

Your site doesn’t have any content not even blog posts.

To set a static home page, you’d want to follow these steps:

    Set the Homepage

First appearances yes. But, I have six pages with content – not much but enough to make each of the pages recognizable. Each of those pages have a navigation bar. 5 are currently draft.

What I get when I use my other computer to examine the site to see how it works is the nothing found page. I created the page called home same as the others. I put in enough content so that I would know it was a page called home and the url for it. I did the instructions for designating the page as the home page. I then created the blog page the same way, creating for both pages the navigation bar with two links to each page. I have had the other pages published as well but have taken them down to draft.

What comes up is the nothing found page which comes up with no navigation bar nor the bit of content entered. With no navigation bar, there is no way to move to the blog page. Or if published, to the other pages.

I don’t understand why this has happened. The draft pages look fine, including the published home page I developed. I would send pictures but don’t know how to do that here.

Solved my own problem by building another in a different order than recommended by WordPress. Thanks for trying.
