Home Page / Calendar Widget Issues

I cleared cookies, etc. When viewing a post entitled “Test” to the HOME page it appears correctly. However…the Calendar widget does not appear. However…when clicking on the link to my HOME page the following appears with a Search Button below:

Please advise as to how can remedy the situation…including making the Calendar functional. Thanks!

Hi, Mikey. I’m not sure I understand your problem. But getting the calendar widget on your site is pretty straightforward, so let’s start with that and see if you’re still having problems.
To add the calendar, Go to your Dashboard, then “Appearance,” then “Widgets.” Click and hold “Calendar” and drag it to either the main or secondary widget area, as you prefer. Click “save” and you’re done.
Cheers,

Hi Brian. Thanks for the response! Interestingly, when I initially set up the blog, the Calendar worked fine. After attempting to incorporate my own header image, e.g. posting and reposting until the right look was achieved, for some unknown reason the calendar does not appear. Also, the home page returns the message cited above w/a search button. If I could attach a screen shot of the image I would for clarification. But I’m unable to do so.

Hmm… Well, I’m stumped. I just added a header image (my own, not one of the stock images) to my test blog and the calendar and everything else still works.
How are you adding the header image? Are you using the Customizer?
-
Actually I didn’t used the Customizer. I used the Dashboard…Appearance…Header menu to add the image. Perhaps if I went premium and used the Customizer I might be able to resolve the issue?
-
Actually, you can use the Customizer without going premium. The Custom Design upgrade, however, would give you more flexibility.
http://en.support.wordpress.com/custom-design/I’m still trying to figure this out, so I tried changing my theme to the same one you’re using, Coraline. When I did, my header image was replaced with a generic one, and my calendar widget was gone. So I added the calendar to the secondary widget area, which is where I had it before. Now, however, it was nowhere to be seen. Then I moved it to the primary widget area and, voila!, there it is. Which widget area did you add your calendar to?
-
The calendar widget was in the primary area. Interesting…if I view my blog via the Dashboard…the view that I described in the initial thread appears. If viewed via the Customizer the view is ok…except the calendar doesn’t appear. However…when looking at the add widget it does appear in the primary area and is dark grey in color. Perhaps if I do a “test” post it will be activated and appear on my home page?
