home page does not show up in Pages

  My home page doesn’t show up in pages, so I can’t edit it! I’ve got it set up as a static page, and it doesn’t show up in the menu for setting that up, either. I’ve spent hours reading the forums, I can’t find anything I understand that seems relevant. Help :) :) :(

  Hi there,

  You don’t actually have a page set to be your static front page right now. Instead you’ve got your blog posts going to your front page!

  If you’d like to set a static front page, you can log in to your Dashboard and then go to Pages >> Add New and create a new page. Once you’ve got one created, you can go and set it as the static front page by following these instructions:

  Thank you :) I’ve got a couple of blogs going, and I think you might’ve cued into one that’s all set up and working. I’ve got a new one in the process of being set up that no one can see yet, and that was giving me trouble. But I finally discovered that somehow I’d thrown the homepage in the trash!!! Problem solved :) Do you know anything about getting featured header images onto a page? I’m having some odd problems. I’m using Twenty Ten. If I can ask you about it, let me know! Thanks again :)

  Hi there,

  You didn’t specify which of your blogs you were working on, is it http://theshepherdschildcustommade.wordpress.com?

  If so, I took a look, and it appears that the featured images that you have set are not wide enough. In order to get a featured image to appear as the header of a page, you have to have it be at least as wide as the page itself, which is between 640 and 940 pixels. I believe some of your images were about 300 pixels.

  If you upload wider images then it should work for you!

  Yes, yes, that’s it!!! Thank you! I’m just fooling around now, none of these images are the ones that will stay, but I managed to set one up for the Felted Hats page that’s pretty close to usable. Thanks again for your help!!
