Home page – Harmonic Theme
-
I have set up a simple static home page for my blog with just a featured image and a link as page content. Now there appears a link with the title of the page and a button that says “read more” on the featured image. How do I remove this or else change the button to “watch”?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi there,
If you’d like to use the Full Width page template for your front page, it won’t be possible to remove the title without the use of Custom CSS.
An alternative you might try is to use the Front Page template. If you use it, you can set the top image from Customize > Theme Options > Title.
The content of your front page will be visible beneath it.
One more suggestion is that you could try a different theme. Karuna could work well for having a large image with a link to a video:

Your question is unrelated to the present topic, which very specifically refers to an automatically generated “Read more” button that appears overlaying the featured image on the static front page of the Harmonic theme when any page template other than the Front Page Template is chosen. I see what you mean now. Sorry about the previous post. The “Read more” button on your post “Pong game” seems to be generated automatically as is the case in the issue described in the OP, but I don’t think it can be resolved as easily. The “Read more” button and the page title overlaying the featured image on the static front page of https://livingartfilm.wordpress.com/ may be removed by merely changing the page template to the Front Page Template.
It seems that the “Read more” button also appears automatically on posts with featured images set on them. To remove the button without removing the featured image, or to alter the text in the button, might require CSS Customization. Staff member @dcoleonline can give you a definitive response on that when he returns.

@raptor4441: Yep, Custom CSS would be needed to remove or change that text. We have a forum for CSS help:
https://en.forums.wordpress.com/forum/css-customization
If the featured image is disabled on single posts via Customize > Content Options, the Read More button won’t appear.
You might also consider a different theme. Twenty Seventeen uses large featured images on posts without text over them:

I’m a novice with this. But on the Harmonic theme,
I’ve tried everything to change the images on the Static Front Page.
How do I do that? -
@kubonjin: We have some information about that here.
See the Front Page Template Sections area. If you get stuck, please start a new thread and we’ll assist you there.
