Home Page Images
-
Hi there,
In the example provided for the Rowlings theme I picked for my site, there are images above each post on the home page. When I created my site, I couldn’t see anywhere in settings that I could customize this. The option to have the images associated with each post on the homepage was one of the main reasons I picked this theme. Does anyone know how I can set this to show on my site or whether it is a feature reserved for the paid subscriptions?
Thanks

Featured Images: http://en.support.wordpress.com/featured-images/#setting-a-featured-image
To help tell your story visually, Rowling uses Featured Images as entry points to your posts. They’re displayed just below the title on blog posts. On index and archive pages — which have a grid layout — Featured Images are displayed as thumbnails above the post title. For optimal results, select a Featured Image at least 1200px wide.

Hi Timethief,
Thanks for these instructions. Unfortunately I have followed them and double checked them multiple times before posting here and for some reason, my featured image is saved in the post but not actually showing on my home page…

When we need Staff help with issues Volunteers cannot resolve like this one we type modlook into the sidebar tags on our forum threads. I did that for you. How do I get a Moderator/Staff reply for my question? https://en.support.wordpress.com/getting-help-in-the-forums/#how-do-i-get-a-moderatorstaff-reply-for-my-question Then we subscribe to this thread so we are notified when they respond. Wow, thanks so much! I super appreciate it; brand new to this whole online blog/site thing and I’m still a little out of my depth haha Thanks again, you’ve been super helpful!

Thanks for your help, @timethief, and for your patience, @primalpassionblog :)
I figured this out: for whatever reason, the “gallery” post type is not showing a featured image. The standard post type does. I’m filing a bug to find out more about this, but in the meantime, if you’ll edit the post and set the post type to Standard, that will take care of it.
Cheers!
