Home (page) in Header doesn't link to Home page

My home page on top, in the Header, doesn’t link to the (latest) home page. Why does it not do this?
No one seems to be able to help me with this.

Also, Appearance>Menus, under Pages (View All), there is Home and also a Home: Home.
The Home: Home is not to be located anywhere else.
Once again, no one seems able to assist me with what this is or how to get rid of it … and how to make the Home page link to the home page.

I tried the index-php solution as slug, and it worked for a while, but not anymore.

Thanks, if anybody is able to solve this matter.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

This does not work. It just puts the Home page in the LHS menu, which I don’t want.

The whole point is to have a HOME page in the header menu which links to the blog’s home page.

And it still shouldn’t be something that shows as HOME: HOME under Appearance>Menus >View All Pages. This HOME: HOME does not show in Pages>All Pages so remains a mystery as to how to get rid of it. And why there’s two of them (HOME: HOME) is strange.

But still no one seems to be able to help me solve this.

See my post on custom menus (and stop claiming that no one can solve this):

Okay matie, I’ll stop claiming that.
Why is it HOME: HOME in View All Pages?
Should it not be just HOME?
How do I get rid of HOME: HOME and start afresh?

Actually, I have you in bookmarks, and followed your index-php as slug for the home page link. And it actually worked for a while!
But I just discovered by fluke tonight, that nah, it’s stopped working.

So, I went back to some of your posts, and did the URL with name (and space before and after for Chateau theme), but it put the HOME tab lower, and the invisible one on top would still have link when you hovered there … and all sorts of other weird stuff.

Didn’t realize you were the same person. Anyway, thanks.
But I still reckon something’s up with HOME: HOME business, and maybe that’s why it’s weird.

There’s other people who use Chateau theme with home page headers that work fine, which is why I think the problem relates to the double HOME issue.

“This does not work. It just puts the Home page in the LHS menu, which I don’t want.”
This means you had crated a custom menu for your sidebar; that’s unusual, so I didn’t predict it.

“And it still shouldn’t be something that shows as HOME: HOME under Appearance>Menus >View All Pages.”
Why shouldn’t it? As I’m saying in the reply I first linked to, WP has taken care to include a ready-to-use Home link.

“This HOME: HOME does not show in Pages>All Pages so remains a mystery as to how to get rid of it.”
It doesn’t show in Pages > All Pages because it’s not a static page, it’s just a link to your blog front. You don’t get rid of that, you get rid of the other one (the static page you erroneously created).

    So:
You go to Pages > All Pages and delete the “Home” page you created.
Then you go to Appearance > Menus, click the plus sign to create a new menu, give the menu a name, click View All in the Pages module, select the ready-to-use Home item as well as your two static pages, click Add to Menu, drag to change the order of the items if necessary, save menu, select this menu from the Theme Locations pulldown, Save.

PS The link-in-the-title trick and the index-php trick are both obsolete.

    Thanks for the clear instructions.
It works! And I’m much obliged to you.
