Home page is nothing like the example

  Whenever I add a post, it displays a massive image on the home page and the whole post content. How do I get it to display as just the smaller images with the title, as shown in the example?

  The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  Hi @blogdpandme

  Sounds like, the images are featured images.

  Here is some info on that:

  You can add images and have them appear as part of the post. Also depending on the theme, you might be able to customize how your images will appear on your site.

  Hi there,

  To get your site to look like the demo site, you will need to set your front page to show your portfolio. Then you will need to add your blog posts as portfolio items. Please look closely over your themes info page here – https://wordpress.com/theme/sketch

  To set your front page to show portfolio items –

  1. Create or edit a page, and assign it to the Portfolio Page Template from the Page Attributes module.
  2. Head to Customize → Static Front page and set “Front page displays” to “A static page”.
  3. Select the page you just assigned the Portfolio Page Template to as “Front page” and set another page as the “Posts page” to display your blog post

  Thanks Keegansingh – Can i only use this theme then with portfolios? I have made posts not portfolios?

  Yes, to achieve the front page look from the site demo, you will need to transfer the content/featured images into the portfolio items. This is the only way to get the “tiles” that you see on the demo site. Portfolio items work just like posts, except they will display differently on the front end of your website.

  You are still free to use the posts, but these will show on your posts page and not on your homepage. Follow the steps above and your posts will show on whichever page you set as your “posts page”.

  So if I move it to portfolios, they will not shop on my homepage?

  The portfolio items will link to the portfolio item page, this page will have any content you put in it, including the links to “Buy Now”.

  Is it possible then to make my homepage the portfolio item page? Else, surely, the home page would be blank?

  Okay I see your situation now.

  You can upgrade your plan to receive your domain credit, when you go to renew your domain you will see a message showing that the domain is being purchased with a credit. You can read more about this process here under step #9 – https://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/register-domain/#instructions-for-registering-a-new-domain

  @blogbpdandme, posts and portfolio items are different things, and I would suggest looking for a theme where you can have your posts in a grid layout. Here is a link to a filtered list of our themes showing those that have a Grid Post Layout.
