Home page not showing in ‘manage pages’

My home page is showing as a tab on the site header, it’s allowing me to post to it (just a test at this stage) but it is not in ‘manage pages’ or on the page widget on the sidebar. My dashboard says I only have 1 page (‘about this blog’). So other than posting I can’t edit my home page in any way.

    Any ideas?

Yes, check the FAQ and do a search for “a post and a page” and it will explain the difference. The Home Page is actually the blog itself, not a static page, so calling it the Home page is a bit of a misnomer. All your Posts (rather than pages) will go there, and you will find those under Manage->Posts.

The home page is the main blog page, and you cannot edit or change it. The home page link is in the top navigation, and you can also get back to it from any page by clicking on your blog title.

Thanks raincoaster, I realise posts and pages are different, I only referred to the post to explain that there is a page there and it’s working for posts – sorry I didn’t explain myself very well.

My problem is that I can’t access that page. It’s not in the manage pages section (or showing on the sidebar) but it was in the beginning, dashboard originally showed me as having two pages ‘Home’ and ‘About this blog’ now the ‘Home’ isn’t showing there so I can’t make changes to it.

Thanks sacredpath, shouldn’t I be able to add widgets etc to the ‘home’ page though?

Ok, I think I get it (having a slow brain day today – must get more sleep). I thought the home page should show as a page but it seems not. I’m assuming any changes I make will automatically show on the home page.

    Thanks to you both.

Whether widgets show on a particular page or not depends on the theme you are using. Mistylook shows widgets on all the pages.

Just go to design > widgets and add the ones you want. You can drag them up or down to put them in the order you want.
