Home page post length & excerpt function
-
Having read the Excerpt not on WordPress.org, it states that only the first 55 words will be displayed if the excerpt field is not filled out. I have posted a rather lengthy post but it is showing the whole article, not just a portion. I went back in and filled out the excerpt field with the portion I wanted to show on the home page, but it is still showing the whole post. Do I need to set something to truncate the post or use the excerpt?

Can we get a link to your WordPress.COM blog? I’m not sure you’re in teh right forum and our advice may not apply to you.

Here you go. If I am not in the right place let me know where I should be and thanks for your help.

Don’t read the stuff at WordPress.ORG. It doesn’t apply to your blog here and will only confuse you.

Roger that, but just to let you know, the link on the excerpt field does take you to the .org site.
Thanks!
