Home Page says Error 404 – Not Found

    Hi everyone,

    I searched the forum for a solution and every one that I clicked on, the user found a solution already and so the thread was locked and no solution was posted (if that made sense).

    When I click on the tab “Home”, it says Error 404 – Not Found. How do I get rid of that?

    I would really appreciate some help. I feel like I’ve tried everything but just find myself going around in circles.

    that may be because you don’t have any posts, so when the server looks for it, there is no folder for posts because why would you create a folder for something that doesn’t exist?

    hi.. i have the same problem.. i had two blogs .. and deleted one of them. and since then i have this problem. it drives me bananas. if i want to go to my blog it also tells me that the page was deleted by the owners.. which as such is correct but i still have the other blog. i am wondering if i should delete all of it.. and start over new.. i am really getting a bit fed-up with this!

    You cannot log into a blog that has been deleted. Were the two blogs on different accounts?

    Hi,

    There are a few things that can cause 404 file not found errros:

    * as mentioned above by raptortech97: you need at least 1 blog post
    * AllowOverride None in the http.conf might have to be set to ‘AllowOverride None’
    * There might be a problem with the .htaccess file
    * It might be a problem with a misbehaving plugin.

    The last 3 causes of 404 errors i’ve found on other blogs, but they didn’t work for me. I just had to publish 1 blogpost.

    We have no http.conf or .htacess files here, and we cannot use plugins. This is the wordpress.COM hosting service, and your last three things do not apply here, but only to self-hosted wordpress blogs. Self-hosted wordpress blogs are supported at http://wordpress.ORG/support/ .
