home page Slideshow image size

I have recently purchased ‘photographer’ and want the full size image that you can see on the products home page. I have a slideshow on my page, but the images are small and are on a black background within a white box. I want them right up to the grey line you can see. Any ideas? The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  • Hi there,

The theme you are using has a few built in slideshow options that I think will give you what you are after. Quick question, do you want your slideshow images to be “clickable” as they are here (image links to a blog post) using the “homepage” template

    http://photographerdemo.wordpress.com/

Or do you prefer this style, which uses the “slideshow” page template, in which the images in the slideshow are not clickable, so the viewer stays on the page.

Setup instructions for either of these page styles (or templates) can be found here, but I am happy to lend a hand if you find yourself stuck: http://theme.wordpress.com/themedoc/photographer/

Hope that helps. Please let me know if you have any further questions.

    Hi Jerry

    Thanks for the reply.
I thought I was winning with this yesterday, but now…….urgh

I would like the first style- if you click the image it links to a post. I would also like the image to be the full size of the screen.

I have tried following the instructions you pointed me to… but I feel like I’m missing something.

    confused!

  • No problem. So the good news is that you are part way there; you have already created a home page, as well as a few blog posts that look like they are details about your art.

So first thing you will need to do is edit the home page, changing it to use the homepage template setting, as shown here: https://cloudup.com/cPDFkQEBhvY

After that, you will need to set up a trigger category that will tell the home page template what blog posts to display… each slide in it’s own separate blog post (more on that later) and you use the trigger category to choose which posts you want on the homepage, and which you do not.

Go to Posts > Categories and create a special category, like “Featured” for example.

Next, edit your blog posts to add that category you created above, and also set a featured image, which will be the image you see on the homepage slideshow. You have already set a featured image for one of your blog posts, so be sure to do it for the other as well.

That’s it. Check out your homepage, where you will now see a full width slideshow.

Let me know if you need assistance or if you have any questions. :)
